Acts 1:8 Is More Than Holy Spirit Power!

(Credit for this idea has to go to my dear husband and co-producer of The Waiting World unreached people group video series.). When reading Acts 1:8, be sure you don’t read it as two separate sentences! “But you will receive power when the Holy Spirit comes on you; and you will be My witnesses in Jerusalem, and in all Judea and Samaria, and to the ends of the earth.” Notice there’s a semi-colon in between the move of the Holy Spirit and the part about witnessing to the ends of the earth. According to Merriam Webster’s definition of a semicolon, “…like a colon, it signals that what follows it is closely related to what comes before it.” In other words, when Jesus said the words of Acts 1:8, He didn’t speak in two separate sentences. And, He never meant for us to receive the Holy Spirit’s power and then wait around for His return! NO! He meant that the power of the Holy Spirit would enable us to be good witnesses to those in our home community, those in our nation, as well as those in other nations of the world. Think about THAT and then pray about how you can reach more people, even those overseas, with the Gospel of Jesus Christ. Pray, send/give, go!
