Offering Bribes To Convert To Islam

(This true story is from the Bible translators, Wycliffe Associates in their January, ’25 letter.  Check out their website at https://wycliffe.org/monthly For security reasons, actual nations are not referenced.)

They were offered bribes to convert to Islam, but their love for God and His Word in their own language cannot be bought!  Christians around the world face persecution in many different forms.  Some are banished from their communities.  Others are imprisoned for their faith.  Still others are physically abused, severely beaten, and…sadly…often worse.

For believers among the Temiar language group in Asia, a new form of persecution has reared its ugly head:  bribery!   Their government is endeavoring to tempt them with financial incentives if they only will convert from Christianity to Islam.  However, reports from the field indicate that the Temiar New Testament translation project is helping this government ploy to backfire!

“Translating the Bible into the Temiar language keeps the Christ-followers connected to God’s Word,”  says Pastor David, who helps lead the translation team.  “It strengthens their faith and helps them remain steadfast in their belief.”

With your prayers and financial support of Wycliffe, the Temiar New Testament translation continues to thrive and strengthen the resolve of God’s faithful as the Scriptures come to life in their heart language.

Please pray for all Bible translators around the world, and consider financial support of Wycliffe Associates.
