(Source: ABC News) American missionary to Niger, Jeff Woodke, has been released after more than 6 years of being held captive by a terrorist group in the African nation. The US Government, while not directly involved in the negotiations for his release, announced the good news on Monday. Woodke was described as a Christian aid worker, and his wife said he was taken in October, 2016 by a “hostage taking organization.” The US government thanked the government of Niger for their assistance in Woodke’s release, however other US Christian aid workers also helped with the negotiations.
