Across borders and war zones, one digital strategy is connecting people with Scripture

(From Mission Network News Online, mnnonline.org, 9/28/26) – International (MNN) — The team at Horizons International has discovered the best social media strategy to spread the gospel.

That’s a bold statement to unpack. Yet their strategy isn’t meant for building a social media following, but rather for the critical work of putting God’s Word where seekers and Christians can find it and be drawn to Him.

“A lot of the people who are working with refugees or working with Muslims or discipling Muslims on the ground, they have some of the best insights about how to talk to our target audience that’s online as well,” says Pierre Houssney with Horizons International.

“There’s been an interesting realization, which is that whenever we’re using actual biblical content, we find that the interactions are so much stronger.”

He continues, “Honestly, just putting Bible verses in Arabic or Kurdish or Farsi or Turkish or whatever language it is, when we put Bible verses there with engaging images, we find that people respond well to that.”

More than ever, the internet is a place Muslims go to in order to ask questions and find truth. God’s Word engages people’s hearts in a way that human words simply cannot. It’s a content strategy any Christian can adopt.

Biblical language catches one refugee’s attention…

A Syrian woman had fled to Lebanon to escape Syria’s civil war. She saw a social media post from Horizons about inner peace. “When she saw the word ‘inner’ along with the word ‘peace,’ she was confused because she thought that peace means that you’re in an area where there’s not war,” says Houssney.  (To read the rest of this story, please cick.
