To fully appreciate the life of the average frontline mission worker, you must visualize a soul who is completely sold out to Jesus. A person who is so in love with the Lord that they are willing to go anywhere, even to a culture not their own, where nothing is the same, not the language, the people, the food, not even the media. We here at The Waiting World remember our first outreach to shoot video for this series among the Maratha, an unreached people group in India. We were warned about “culture shock”, a condition that happens to a person when they are in a radically different culture. The advice was: “Don’t shrink back (many people experience this), don’t hide in your room (go outside and mingle with the locals), and take something with you that brings you comfort (like your favorite candy!)”. I remember feeling so isolated, that I would give anything just to be able to read a familiar billboard!
But the point is, being a frontline missionary can be lonely, hard, and discouraging. Some workers have given their very lives. And, if anyone asks, there are no rich missionaries. So keep them in your prayers daily!
One of the areas of the world that really needs more mission workers is the 10/40 Window. You can learn more by watching this video and clicking this LINK.
