A Lifetime of Service For A God Who Is Worthy

(From God Reports, godreports.com, 4/1/26). For 50 years, this man and his wife (who has been blind for the past 20 years) have faithfully served the Lord in Yangon, located in Myanmar (formerly known as Burma) right at the juncture of the Yangon and Bago Rivers. “Rustic”, “hard”, “challenging”, “heartbreaking”, “awe inspiring” are just a few of the words we could use to describe their adventures as they raised their family in this Southeast Asian nation. We will give you a brief sampling of their story here, and, at the end of that segment will give a link to the full story, which we are sure you will want to read!

“Spiritual Warfare that Shook The Night”

My brother-in-law had once been involved with spirit healers. They had healed his wife’s long illness and later gave him a bracelet said to hold “supernatural power.” After hearing the gospel, he threw it away.

That is when the real battle began!

Each night, spirit mediums performed rituals, calling for our death. They struck their tables, lit candles, and chanted curses like “Let them die!”. We wrapped ourselves in blankets, lit our own candles, and read aloud the words of Christ casting out demons. Nightmares troubled our sleep, and I often woke to pray.

One night, an animal ran across the roof and liquid splashed down. We believed it was “spirit water” meant to harm us. But no harm came. Instead, the chief spirit healer fell severely ill, feeling as though his body was on fire.

Drunken men were sent to threaten us. One Sunday afternoon, a man rushed to our stairs shouting insults. While everyone prayed with eyes closed, I prolonged the prayer until his friends pulled him away. Later, my brother-in-law admitted he had been ready to strike the man with an iron rod if I stopped my prayer earlier. God restrained us both.

For over a year, we endured curses, threats, and intimidation. But we learned a lesson I will never forget: when you step into God’s mission, the enemy will fight—but the Lord fights better.”

Okay, that was just a sample of their exciting story and their courage in the face of spiritual warfare, which you can read here
