Pakistan: People Are Seeking Hope

(From Pray4SouthAsia.com). As poverty and unemployment run high in this SouthAsian country, more people are seeking Jesus! And while it isn’t illegal in Pakistan too convert to Christianity, people who do are considered apostates.

Almost 45% of Pakistan’s people live in poverty. Unemployment is officially 5-6%, but much higher when underemployment is considered. Christians, just 1.3% of the population, are among the poorest. Many are restricted mainly to sanitation work and face systemic discrimination. Yet churches and ministries are responding…offering education, supporting small businesses, and freeing families from bonded labor.

*Pray for just economic opportunities and relief for the poor in Pakistan.

* Pray for Christians facing discrimination and poverty to find dignity and hope in Christ.

*Pray for the church to continue to expand education, skills, and advocacy work among Christians and non-Christians.

*Pray that many in Pakistan will experience the gospel through both proclamation and compassionate action.
