Don’t Let This Minority Be Overlooked!

(From Change the Map: Prayer For the Buddhist World) Pray for the 71,000 Japanese in Thailand

Approximately 0.5% follow Jesus.

Many Japanese have moved to Thailand because it provides an offshore base for their export-oriented industries. The Japanese live in Thailand as temporary residents for four main reasons. First, Japan and Thailand are both monarchies with frequent royal exchanges. Second, they share a common religion, Buddhism. Third, the two countries have never been at war with each other. Finally, the government allows business with very little red tape for investors.

Traditions of Shintoism, Buddhism, Confucianism, and Taoism have all contributed to Japanese religious principles: ancestor worship; a belief in religious continuity of the family; a close tie between the nation and religion; a free exchange of ideas among religious systems; and religious practices centered on the use of prayer meditation, amulets, and purification. However, despite Buddhist traditions, many Japanese are apathetic or cynical toward religion.

-Pray for the Japanese in Thailand to have peace between them and overcome their differences.

– Pray that the Japanese would recognize Christ as the Way, Truth, and Life, and come to God through Him.
