Studies have shown that mission workers who are sent out overseas or to remote locations or even to different cultures from where they live, even if it’s in the same nation, will stay healthier and last longer on the field if they know they have a strong “home front” team behind them. Think of military troops during a war, in this case a spiritual battle. The troops do the fighting, and their homefront team prepares the uniforms, ammunition, food, and sometimes “care” packages for the troops on the frontline. Of course, missionaries don’t need bullets, but they do need the prayers, emails or letters, and an occasional visit from the people back home. They need someone just to listen to them. Also, when they come home for a visit, they need to feel like someone CARES about the work they are doing, and listen to their stories ( who DOESN’T love a good story from a missionary?). If you know someone in ministry overseas or in a different culture, please take care of them in the ways listed above! They will be able to serve in Kingdom work a long time!
