(From Global Frontier Missions, globalfrontiermissions.org). In a nutshell, “YES”!!! There are multiple reasons for this:
- Cultural complexity has increased
- Theological foundations are more critical than ever
- Spiritual warfare is REAL
- Long term impact requires preparation
And, we here at the Waiting World want to add: home support and “member care” from the folks sending you is absolutely essential! The mental, emotional, and physical pressures a missionary experiences on the field are something no one can explain until you are “out on the field”. If something goes wrong, you need a team behind you…much like our soldiers on the field get support from their own nation.
Finally, the mission field may be changing, but the need for training remains the same. As Jesus said, “The harvest is plentiful, but the laborers are few.” In this critical hour of global opportunity, we need laborers who are not only willing but ready. Missions training in 2025 isn’t outdated—it’s strategic, biblical, and vital for reaching the world with the Good News of the Gospel.
Various mission sending groups, like Youth With A Mission or YWAM, have varieties of training that you can travel to attend, and Global Frontier Missions even has an online course you can take. Check out their opportunities at the link below:
